Gold plated jewellery has an extremely thin layer of gold electroplated onto the surface — often less than 0.5 microns thick. Over time, this layer can wear away with friction, sweat, and water exposure.

Gold-filled jewellery is a different category entirely. It contains a substantial layer of genuine gold — at least 1/20th (5%) of the total weight — that is mechanically bonded to a base metal core. Returns We offer a 30-day return policy on unworn items in original packaging for a full refund or exchange. To initiate a return, email hello@amalfilane.com within 30 days of receiving your order. Return postage is the responsibility of the customer, except where the item is faulty or we've made an error — in which case, we've got you covered.
